Canoodling Galahs

A pair of galahs up on an electrical wire in Chillagoe, far north Queensland

This is one of my favourite images. When I first looked up at these two galahs, a small pink and grey parrot found here in Australia, the two birds were far apart from each other.

But as I was watching them the left hand bird slowly started shuffling along the wire to his friend on the right. I waited patiently as he snuggled up and gave her a loving kiss on the cheek.

At least that was how it looked to my anthropomorphic mind!

For me this image is not only about the interaction between the two birds but the juxtaposition of the soft, feathery natural world against the harsh metal and wood of the man-made electricity pole.
