Go toady go!

iron bar Port Douglas cane toad race racing
Cane Toad racing is a popular night out at the Iron Bar in Port Douglas, Queensland

Cane toads. Love them or hate them they’re now a part of the landscape here in Queensland, They were in fact released for the first time in a little town called Gordonvale, just south of Cairns.

But just north of Cairns, in the little town of Port Douglas, they have taken the oft-despised cane toad and turned them into a tourist attraction at the Iron Bar.

A hopping, racing tourist attraction. Put them on a round table, let them out of the bucket and the first one that leaves the ring is the winner. Mix with copious amounts of alcohol and a room full of backpackers mixing with older folk and it’s a raucous night out.
